During the event, the actor was seen touching his own poster as if seeking blessings, leaving fans amused and triggering a flood of memes across the internet. Now, while promoting the Netflix crime drama, Saif has finally addressed the viral moment and explained what was actually going through his mind at the event.

During an appearance on Just Too Filmy, Saif was reminded that almost every film release of his ends up generating at least one meme-worthy clip online. Reacting to it, the actor admitted that he noticed the trend himself. “Yeah, quite a lot,” he said when told about his frequent meme moments. When asked whether the gesture was intentionally planned for publicity, Saif immediately denied it and laughed off the speculation. “No, of course not. I don’t know. Yeah, this is what, they asked me to explain it later,” he shared. “I Said Good Luck To The Movie”Explaining the now-viral gesture, Saif said he was not treating the poster as a representation of himself alone, but rather as a symbol of the entire film and the team behind it. “I said good luck to the movie. And I saw this big poster and I was like, good luck to us all,” he explained. The actor added that the action happened instinctively in the moment. “I didn’t see it as me. I saw it as a kind of team effort and a representation of the whole idea,” Saif said.Saif also hilariously recreated the exact move while talking about it and admitted that the whole thing looked rather bizarre once it went viral online. “It’s like (imitates touching the poster) and this is the main gesture (pumps fist). And there’s a little skip also, it’s absolutely mad,” he joked. His light-hearted reaction has only added to the internet’s amusement, with fans continuing to share memes and clips from the event.

Directed by Pulkit, ‘Kartavya’ is a crime drama backed by Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment. Apart from Saif Ali Khan, the film also stars Rasika Dugal, Sanjay Mishra, Saurabh Dwivedi and Zakir Hussain in pivotal roles. The project premiered on Netflix on May 15.Saif also has ‘Haiwaan’ in the pipeline, directed by Priyadarshan. The upcoming film, which is reportedly a remake of Mohanlal’s ‘Oppam’, will feature Akshay Kumar alongside Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar.
